Kristin Szarell

Kristin Szarell graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Spanish and received her American Sign Language Certificate. She also studied Portuguese.

Kristin is the daughter of Dr. David and Thelma Szarell of Nineveh. She is a 2000 graduate of West Greene High School.

Kristin graduated Magna Cum Laude and was a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Golden Key International Society. While at the University of Pittsburgh Kristin was a Rhodes and Fulbright Scholarship applicant and received a scholarship to study abroad for one year in Madrid. She was the co-captain of the Pitt Dance Team.

Kristin was among approximately 6,000 receiving undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh’s campus in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh.

Kristin interned at the UPMC International Patient Relations Center and the Center for Hearing and Deaf Services. She is currently volunteering as an interpreter at the Birmingham Clinic. Kristin judges local scholarship pageants and conducts cheerleading clinics.

Kristin’s immediate plans include competing for Miss Pennsylvania in June as the 2003-2004 Miss Greater Cranberry before attending graduate school and beginning her career as an interpreter. She is a Carson Scholarship recipient for graduate school, and Kristin just received the prestigious “Diploma Superior de Lengua Extranjera” certificate that proves her proficiency in Spanish.
